SAUDIA, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has announced that it will be expanding its fleet by adding the Airbus A321neo aircraft type, which will be introduced under the slogan “A neo-way of flying.” This move is part of SAUDIA’s expansion plans, which include adding 20 more A321neo planes to its fleet by 2026.

The A321neo is a single-aisle airliner that is part of the A320 family, which is the most popular aircraft family in the world. Airlines prefer this family of aircraft due to its high performance and superior comfort, and the A321neo offers new levels of performance. It can seat between 180 to 220 passengers in a standard two-class interior layout.

The main reason for SAUDIA’s purchase of the A321neo is its fuel efficiency. Since the A320neo was introduced globally in 2016, the A320 family of aircraft has saved 20 million tons of Co2. The A320neo has also seen a 20 per cent decrease in fuel consumption and Co2 emissions, a 50 per cent reduction in noise, a 5 per cent decrease in airframe maintenance costs, and a 14 per cent decrease in cash operating costs per seat compared to previous generation aircraft.

Commenting on the development, Captain Ibrahim Koshy, CEO, SAUDIA, said, “We are thrilled to expand our fleet with the new Airbus A321neo aircraft. Our top priority is to provide the best possible guest experience and to bring the world to Saudi Arabia. We will continue to purchase state-of-the-art aircraft from the world’s top manufacturers to fulfill that promise.”

Air India plans to start flights to Los Angeles, Boston

Air India, owned by Tata Group, is considering extending its flight operations to Los Angeles and Boston as it seeks to expand its base in the US and assesses potential new destinations for long-haul flights from India, according to sources. Currently, the airline operates non-stop flights to five American cities and has a codeshare partnership with United Airlines.

“We commend Airbus for their continuous efforts to improve the performance of their aircraft. This aligns with SAUDIA’s goal of providing the best possible guest experience while contributing to a more sustainable aviation industry,” Koshy added. This partnership highlights the strong relationship and trust between SAUDIA and Airbus. It also supports the objectives of the Saudi Aviation Strategy, which aims to make Saudi Arabia a leader in the global aviation industry by improving customer experience, enhancing safety, and promoting environmental sustainability. SAUDIA’s expansion plans are in line with this strategy, as the airline aims to bring around 330 million visitors to the Kingdom by 2030.

By working with Airbus and expanding its fleet, SAUDIA is working towards becoming a leading airline in the industry. Additionally, the expansion of SAUDIA’s fleet will create new job opportunities for pilots, cabin crew, and other operational positions.
