To enhance domestic and overall connectivity, IndiGo has introduced new flight routes to two Indian destinations including Jharsuguda and Jaisalmer.
IndiGo has commenced operations in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, marking its 81st domestic and 113th overall destination within the 6E network. Known as the ‘Golden City of Rajasthan,’ Jaisalmer is renowned for its stunning architecture and opulent palaces and forts, with the Jaisalmer Fort, also referred to as Sonar Qila, serving as the city’s iconic landmark.
The airline will provide connections from Jaisalmer to Delhi starting from October 12, 2023, and to Mumbai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad from October 29, 2023. This strategic expansion enhances regional connectivity and fosters economic growth by facilitating travel for both tourists and business travellers.
In another development, IndiGo has welcomed Odisha’s Jharsuguda as its 84th domestic and 116th overall destination in the 6E network. IndiGo’s daily-direct flights to Jharsuguda will connect the city to Kolkata from November 5, 2023, and to Bengaluru from November 15, 2023. This expansion is set to enhance mobility, accessibility, and interstate connectivity, contributing to the region’s industrial and business development.
Jharsuguda, often referred to as the ‘powerhouse of Odisha,’ is a city situated in the western part of the state, known for its thriving industrial sectors, particularly in metal and cement production. The city is home to various communities, languages, and cultures, earning it the nickname “Little India.”
While Jharsuguda is not a conventional tourist destination, it offers several attractions for nature and culture enthusiasts, including waterfalls, temples, wildlife sanctuaries, and natural parks.Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his enthusiasm about the addition of these destinations to the airline’s network. “As we constantly venture into new skies, bridging people with their favored destinations, we are committed to delivering on our promise of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences across our extensive network,” he said.
Besides these, the Indian carrier also announced flights to Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh and Diu operations with connections to Ahmedabad and Surat in Gujarat earlier this month.
With these new additions to its network, IndiGo continues to play a pivotal role in connecting Indian regions, further contributing to regional development and tourism.
