IndiGo boosts connectivity with Delhi-Belagavi daily direct flights, ET TravelWorld

In a move aimed at bolstering domestic travel, the Indian airline IndiGo has announced plans to launch a daily direct air link between Delhi and Belagavi, effective from October 5, 2023.

This initiative seeks to fortify point-to-point connectivity and enhance accessibility between the northern and southern regions of India. Belagavi Airport, located in the northern part of Karnataka and celebrated as the oldest airport in the region, is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity, serving both business and leisure travellers.

The commencement of these flights is also poised to benefit travellers seeking newer destinations, especially during the upcoming festive season. Additionally, a short two-hour road trip from Belagavi leads to Hubballi, a significant town in Karnataka known for its grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

“We are pleased to announce new direct flights between Belagavi and Delhi, providing a seamless connection between the two cities. Located in Karnataka, Belagavi, also known as Belgaum, reflects a medley of cultures and traditions with an enviable heritage, attracting tourists throughout the year,” said Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales.

The flights, that will resume from October 5, will address the growing travel demands between India and Hong Kong. The introduction of these flights, said the airline, will boost the airline’s international connectivity, offer new and cost-effective flying options to access destinations and cater to both business and leisure travellers.

“We continue to deliver on our promise of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences across an extensive network for our valued customers,” he added.Belagavi, situated at the foot of the Western Ghats in the northern part of Karnataka, stands as a blend of modern British Cantonment aesthetics and historic town elements thriving with cotton and silk weavers. The city’s history is punctuated by ancient forts, churches, and monuments, offering a backdrop for both religious and cultural exploration.

Belagavi rests against the Sahyadri mountain range, characterised by rivers, waterfalls, landscapes, forests, and an assortment of temples.

The move to connect the capital with Belagavi is set to provide a significant boost to regional connectivity and augment India’s domestic air travel network.
