Air India and Vistara have announced that passengers with tickets between September 7 and 11 will be able to modify their travel dates or flights free of charge in light of the G20 Summit and heightened security measures in the national capital.

Both the airlines are offering a one-time waiver of applicable charges if the passengers holding tickets from September 7 to 11 wish to change the date of travel or the flight.

“There will be travel restrictions in Delhi between 7th and 11th September 2023. As a measure of goodwill, passengers holding confirmed tickets to fly to or from Delhi on these dates are being offered a one-time waiver of applicable charges if they wish to change their date of travel or their flight. Only the fare difference for the rescheduled flight, if any, would be applicable,” Air India said in a social media communication.

Due to the elaborate regulations on vehicular movement planned by the Delhi Traffic Police, in view of the G20 Summit, which is expected to impact approach routes to the IGI Airport, New Delhi, another full-service carrier, Vistara, said it has made adjustments to its flight operations from Delhi with selected flights getting cancelled or rescheduled.

“All Vistara customers scheduled to travel between 08th to 11th September 2023 are requested to kindly check the Vistara website for their flight status in advance to avoid any inconvenience. We are also offering a waiver of the change fee for one-time rescheduling for bookings on the aforementioned dates. We are also assisting the impacted customers with rescheduling or refunds, as applicable,” Vistara said on X, formerly Twitter.

Here are the routes you can follow to reach Delhi airport and Railway stations during G20 summit days

The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the G20 Summit in Delhi. From September 8 to 10, educational institutions, public and private offices will remain closed, and certain areas will be designated as controlled or regulated zones. The Delhi Metro will offer Tourist Smart Cards for convenient travel, and specific routes have been outlined for reaching the airport and railway stations by car.

During the G20 summit on September 9 and 10, there will be traffic regulations in place. To avoid any inconvenience, the traffic police recommends that passengers travelling to the airport during this period should use Metro services, particularly the Airport Express Line. This line connects New Delhi Station to Dwarka Sector 21 Station via IGI Airport Terminal-3. If you are travelling from Dwarka to T3, you can take the Blue Line to Dwarka Sector 21 Station. From there, switch to the Airport Express Line to reach IGI Airport T3.

If you are travelling from New Delhi to T3, you can use the Yellow Line to reach the New Delhi Station. From there, transfer to the Airport Express Line for IGI Airport T3. Alternatively, you can take the Orange Line from Shivaji Stadium to IGI Airport T3.
